

Winfred “Winnie” A. Evans 76, passed away on Sept. 29, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. The greatest day of his life was the day he asked Jesus to be his Lord and Savior.
Winnie is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Diane Evans; his son, Brian Evans (Elizabeth); his sister, Betty Slingerland; brother, Doug Evans (Anne); and several nieces and nephews.
Winnie was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Florence Evans; son, Gregory Evans; brother, Stuart Evans; sister, Anna Frere; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nelson and Patricia Ennis.
He was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church in Brunswick, Georgia. He worked with and coordinated monthly activities for the Super Seniors in the church for 25 years, taking them to the mountains, Washington, D.C., Williamsburg, Virginia, and New England.
Winnie was born in Alexandria, Virginia, and graduated from George Washington High School. Winnie sold paint and wallpaper for many years at A.S. Irvin and Sons. Winnie relocated to Brunswick, Georgia, where he sold tires at Dixie Service Center, worked at Oak Grove Island Golf Course, and drove buses at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and an armored car for EM Armored Car.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on October 3, 2021, at Bible Baptist Church, 500 Harry Driggers Blvd., Brunswick, Georgia, with Pastor Mike Landrum officiating. Honorary pallbearers are the Men's Sunday School Class.
The burial will be held at 11 a.m. on October 4, 2021, at Chapel Park Cemetery, 1180 Cate Road, Brunswick, Georgia.
