Alva Elaine Belch of Calgary, Alberta stepped into Eternity on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the age of 82 years. Born in Carbon, Alberta to Jim and Elizabeth Hudson, Alva was a quiet soul who never forgot her prairie beginnings. She moved to the city at age 17 and found her “calling” at AGT/TELUS as a switchboard operator, and later a respected and caring manager in a dedicated career of over 35 years. In retirement, she became a compassionate and selfless volunteer, reminding us that our hearts strengthen when sharing both the rain and the sunshine with others. Alva moved to Bow-Crest Care Centre in 2012 and we are deeply appreciative of the loving care she received. Throughout her ages, Mom was an amazing woman who gifted us with her trusting love, thoughtful wisdom, and gentle strength.
Alva is lovingly remembered and held in the hearts of her son, Blair; daughter, Glenda (David); and three grandchildren: Gregary, Stephen and Christina. She was predeceased by her husband Chuck in 2016.
In lieu of flowers, Alva would have been deeply honoured to be remembered with a kind donation to Ronald McDonald House.
A celebration of Alva’s life will be held on Friday October 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Wild Rose United Church 1317-1 St NW, Calgary, AB. Interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
