Arthur was born in Calgary on December 14, 1930 and grew up in the Crescent Heights area. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf. He was a member of the Calgary Elks Club – Sparrow Group for many years.
Gordon attended Balmoral and Crescent Heights High school before beginning his career at Alberta Wheat Pool in 1953 to retirement in 1991. He was also very involved with Skimeisters of Calgary and the Sunshine Ski Club.
Gord’s retirement years were filled with many holidays with family and friends, working at Heritage Park, Tim Horton’s and a new activity, painting; which he did not start until he was 60.
He is survived by Joan, his wife of 58 years; daughters Nancy and Gillian (Eric); his son Cameron (Beverly); grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley and Kyle; his brother Raymond (Janis); sister-in-law Gail, brother-in-law Gerry Parcells; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gord was predeceased by his parents Kathaleen and Arthur as well as his brother William.
He was a true gentleman in every way and will be dearly missed.
