Bernie is lovingly remembered by his son, Ken (Wendy); his daughters, Carol and Cindy (Peter) as well as by his granddaughters, Terra and Melissa. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary; brothers, Jack and Bill, and sisters, Kay and Mary. Bernie joined the military in 1944 and retired from active service in 1970, having served as a warrant officer for the Royal Canadian Engineers Corps. He loved sports, including hockey, baseball, and football and was a regular member of curling leagues. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Bow View Manor for their care and compassion.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Parish, 711 37 Street N.W., Calgary, AB on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Veteran's Food Bank, 1 - 4539 6 Street N.E., Calgary, Alberta T2E 3Z6.
