Birgith was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, immigrating to Calgary with her family in 1957. She met the love of her life Walter, and they married in July 1958. They resided in Calgary raising their family, retiring to Brentwood Bay B.C. in 1988. Upon the arrival of their first grandson, they returned to Calgary to live out their retirement.
Be was a proud Dane and had a fierce love of her grandchildren and family. Along with a successful career in management, she was also an accomplished seamstress. Mom loved the arts, painting, reading and was an avid gardener into her 70’s, with the most beautiful garden on the block. Lastly, she was a gourmet cook and loved to host dinner parties throughout the years for family and friends to their delight.
Be was pre-deceased by her husband Walter; brother Ken and sister Hanne. She is survived by her son Brian (partner Debbie); grandchildren Brett and Sean; daughter Sharon (Tony); sister Liz (Bert) Eckel; brothers Bent (Noreen) Andersen and Steen (Lezley) Andersen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
There will be no service as per her wishes.
