Brian George Joseph McCombe

Brian George Joseph McCombe passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 15, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Born in Winnipeg, Brian obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1956 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1961 from the University of Manitoba, where he graduated as a double gold medalist for academic achievement. An acclaimed lawyer in Calgary, Brian wa s a former director of Page Petroleum, Oakwood Petroleums Ltd., American Oakwood, and Global Arctic. His unparalleled dedication to his career is evidenced by Brian’s role as a founding partner of McLaws & Co., as well as subsequent firms, including McCombe, Mainwaring, and Perkins. A member of the Petroleum Law Foundation and a Life Fellow of the Foundation for Legal Research, he practiced and mentored in the areas of natural resources, corporate and commercial, and securities law. Brian shared his passion for leadership and education by donating his time to various community organizations, including Cub Scouts Canada. In his spare time, Brian loved to golf, read, and spend time with his family. Brian is lovingly remembered by his wife Irene and their children Robert (Patti), Cameron (Katharine), and Shawn (Neil). Brian is deeply missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Sara, Mathew, Shaina, Jory, Ian, Calum, Jaxson, and Elle. He is also fondly remembered by his siblings, Jim McCombe and Lorraine Rossell. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jean McCombe, and his siblings Doreen (Hays), Larry, Jack, and Joanne (Drabik). Brian will be affectionately remembered by friends and family for his intelligence, wisdom, guidance, and kindness. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Tam and the wonderful nursing staff at Rockyview General Hospital for their compassion and support.
