Carol Warrick

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia Carol Warrick, known to all as Carol. On September 9, 2025, at 5:30 a.m. she passed away peacefully at Southwood Hospice in Calgary at the age of 83, after bravely facing Thyroid Cancer and living courageously with Parkinson’s Disease.

Carol was born to Stewart Buchanan and Mildred Dobbie in Brandon, Manitoba, with proud Scottish roots through her father, who was born in Dundee, Scotland. Carol began her career as a secretary with the Board of Education in Ontario before taking to the skies as a flight attendant with Air Canada. After moving to Calgary, she returned to her administrative roots, working with the Calgary Board of Education’s Architectural Department and later serving as secretary to the President of the Calgary Academy.

Carol’s greatest joy was her family. She was the loving mother of her only child, Peter Warrick (Lindsay), and proud grandmother to Chloe and Oaklyn. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Lynne Luxon (Eric), and niece Corrine of Burlington, Ontario. Carol was predeceased by her parents, her former husband Kenneth Warrick, and her beloved husband, Don Ruckaber.

Carol will be remembered for her creativity, resilience, grace, and devotion to those she loved.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date, likely in November. Those interested in attending may reach out to South Calgary Funeral Centre for details as they become available.
