

Cheryl and Dwayne tragically passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 due to a fatal car collision in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Cheryl and Dwayne were married on March 24, 1990. They lived in Airdrie and later moved to a home in Calgary. After Cheryl retired, they moved to Nanaimo, BC, in 2011, where they enjoyed their beautiful ocean view and a recent trip to Italy. Cheryl cherished the friendships she made through the Nanaimo Newcomers Club. Dwayne was looking forward to his own retirement and spending time with Cheryl, family and friends.
Cheryl Lynn (nee Rosenau) was born in Calgary, July 9, 1950. She graduated from Ernest Manning High School and Hollingshead Business College. Cheryl began working at the Royal Bank and then Digitech. She later moved to CP Rail where she spent most of her career. She enjoyed working in Special Projects but especially loved her job in the Real Estate department during the last few years. Cheryl will be deeply missed by her sister, Donna Irwin (Art), brother, Lorne Rosenau (Pat), nieces Erin (Nate) and Michelle (Dan) and nephews, Kellen (Kristy) and Curtis (Jena). She was predeceased by her parents, Doreen and Henry Rosenau.
Dwayne was born in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, August 26, 1948. He grew up on the family farm east of St. Walburg. After high school, he worked at an engineering office in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, which was managed by his uncle, Frank Vick. He then attended the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw, where he graduated with a diploma in Civil Engineering. Following college, he moved to Thompson, Manitoba, for about a year, then relocated to Edmonton, Alberta, working as a civil engineer with the Alberta Government until 1980. He changed careers in 1980 to an Insulator, later becoming a Journeyman, working with the Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 110, until the present. In 1985, he had moved to Airdrie, and while living there, he met Cheryl. Dwayne is survived by his mother, Josephine Vick, brother Bruce (Shirley), brother Brian (Dorothy), sister Debby (Stuart), brother Dan (Ana), sister Kathy and all of their extended families. Dwayne was predeceased by his father, Jack Vick, and his nephew, Aaron Powers. The families would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the family, friends, co-workers, and the Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 110 for their generosity and kind words at this very difficult time. Special thanks to Cpl. Krebs of the Wetaskiwin RCMP detachment. Cheryl and Dwayne will be so very dearly missed by all their family, friends and co-workers. They left us too soon and will always be remembered for their kindness and generosity.
A Celebration of Life for Cheryl and Dwayne will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, AB on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alberta Cancer Foundation, 710, 10123 - 99 Street N.W., Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1.
