With deep love and great sadness, we announce the passing of Clifford Heward Clarke born on April 15, 1935 in Calgary. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Beverley, of 67 years, his daughters Cheryl (Robert), Christine and Janice (Scott) and his grandchildren Nichole, Brittany, Rachel and Ryan. He was also blessed with two great grandchildren – Jack and Sadie.
Cliff grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Calgary, now part of Calgary’s inner city Manchester community. He valued family, hard work and integrity which he learned early while helping out with the farm after school, alongside his four older sisters Joyce, Kathleen, Ilene and Shiela.
Cliff used these values to move on from his career at Canadian Western Natural Gas Company to own his welding and metal business in Inglewood which he ran for 30 years. He was a creative and ingenious man who could make or fix anything and he loved to teach others along the way. He was not one for talking about his accomplishments but rather got a quiet inner satisfaction from them.
Family was the foundation of Cliff’s life. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he often said how much he loved his life.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life to be held on April 15, from 2 to 5 pm at Heritage Park’s Railway Orientation Centre, 1900 Heritage Drive S.W. Calgary. If you have a favourite story or memory of Cliff there will be time to share it.
