We grieve, but with enormous pride and gratitude for the many gifts he passed on of grace, wisdom, humanity, and perseverance. Our beloved Dad and Grampa, Collin McAllister, is now at peace. With love and understanding, his children, Loriss and Blaire as well as his grandsons, Brodie and Dustin, bid tearful farewells as he passed to be joyfully embraced in heavenly reunion with his loving wife, Mary. We feel the joy of mom and dad together again and know that he is also happily reunited with his parents, his sisters and many other cherished family and friends, and his many beloved pets that have gone before him. We have always known we were blessed to have a devoted and unconditionally loving Dad and Grampa and now together, we celebrate his life. God, in His goodness, gave Collin 103 amazing years of life. On his winding path through those 103 years, he was a proud Calgarian who valued his word, a World War II veteran who valued freedom, a Masonic brother, draftsman, mountain climber, skier, son, brother, husband, father, grampa, uncle and friend to many. He touched the hearts of all who met him with his bountiful and sincere praise. Collin dignified every acquaintance with his gracious sincerity and a hand shake. As such, he garnered ready respect from anyone who met him and generated deep and lasting friendships with many. Collin inspired us to live a life of integrity, honesty, generosity and to have an enormous curiosity in the wonders of the world. He had a great strength of spirit, a humble joy of life and a great spirit of adventure.
With heavy hearts, Collin’s family would like the love and support of family and friends as he is laid to rest with Mary. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 1102 23 Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. With deep respect for the gentleman that he always was, may he rest in peace for eternity and live forever in our fondest memories of a long life well lived.
