

Curt passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 with his wife of 61 years, Mona (nee McLaughlin) by his side. Besides Mo, he will be sadly missed by his children, Carole (Mike) Dungey, Dan (Pam nee Hay) and Sandra (Gerry) Tanti. Also mourning their “Bubba” are Bill, Elin and Mike Brown, Kristen nee Tanti (Ty) Senyshen, and Brendan Dungey (Sarah), and first great-grandchild Blake. He was predeceased by Bren’s elder sister Tannin on October 2, 2008.
Curt attended Sunalta and Central High Schools in Calgary, plus Mount Royal University to matriculate. He then articled with accounting firm Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. for five years, obtaining his CA in 1964. Leaving PMM he entered the Public Oil and Gas industry where he spent the remainder of his twenty year career, which included, spending three years as Mgr-Accounting Schlumberger of Canada, two years similarly with Consolidated Natural Gas and Pipelines Ltd. He also spent three years at Norcen Energy Resources Ltd. as a Controller in Calgary and Toronto, five years as V-P Finance with Luscar Coal Ltd. in Edmonton where he helped establish their oil and gas division. He finished his career with four years as a V-P Finance at Oakwood Petroleum Ltd. in Calgary.
In 1984, he retired, creating his own private small oil and gas production company, facilitating “Snowbird” living in Palm Desert, California. Curt was an excellent athlete, excelling in basketball, football and track in school years, and squash and golf in adult years. He was a long time member of the Glencoe Club and Glencoe Golf and Country Club. At his request, there will be no formal service. Following cremation, a private family reception was held.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Calgary EMS, and special thanks to Dr. Terry Hulme, ICU, Dr. Michelle Grinman and the fabulous nurses in Unit 94 at the Rockyview General Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Curt Brown may be made to support sarcoma research at the University of Calgary. Cheques should be payable to "University of Calgary" with, Dr. Morris Sarcoma Research in the memo line and mailed to: Fund Development Office, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary (3330 Hospital Drive N.W., Calgary AB T2N 4N1), or to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Attn: Patient Assistance Fund (1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 9Z9).
