With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cynthia Grace Culhane, who left us peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the age of 54 in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta.
Cynthia was a devoted and loving mother of four beautiful children: Taylor (Brennen), Paige, Grace (Farouk), and Landon, and the proud and playful Gigi to her cherished granddaughters, Carmen and Zoe. Family was always at the very heart of her world, and she gave her love freely, fiercely, and without hesitation.
The second oldest in a close-knit blended family of four kids, Cynthia is remembered so fondly by her siblings: Jason (Jessica), Kristin (Kurt), and Cameron (Brigette), as well as her brother-in-law, Trevor Horvath and sisters-in-law, Chelsea Horvath-Aleksich (Mike) and Marni Miller (Paul). She loved to be known as the “crazy” aunt to Sienna, Makayla, Marshall, Lucas, Mason, and Logan. She was the cherished daughter of Ken Truscott and Delores Duncan and her stepmother, Nancy Truscott, preceded in death by her husband, Lonne, whose memory she carried with enduring grace.
Cynthia lived a life rich with purpose, joy, and connection. A woman of immense heart and infectious humour, she was known for her warm spirit, quick wit, and the way she lit up every room she entered. Her passion for music ran deep - it was her refuge, her joy, and her way of bringing people together. A true die-hard fan, she also followed the Calgary Flames with pride and passion, never missing a chance to support her team.
Professionally, Cynthia found great success and fulfillment as a realtor. Alongside her trusted business partner and friend, Barry, she built a career defined by integrity, dedication, and compassion. She earned the respect and admiration of her peers and clients alike - not just for her professional acumen, but for the authenticity and kindness she brought to every interaction.
Beyond her career, Cynthia was also a powerful advocate and voice in the heart health community. As one of the HeartLife Foundation’s original members, she was a fierce advocate, heart failure warrior, and beloved friend whose voice helped shape the organization from the very beginning. Through HeartLife, Cynthia courageously spoke about the realities of living with heart failure and helped bring national attention to the unique experiences of women with heart disease. She took the stage at cardiovascular conferences, served on advisory boards and roundtables, and never shied away from telling the truth. Her impact continues to resonate - Cynthia will always be remembered as an inspiration, a leader, and a Heart Sister.
Cynthia’s life will be honoured at a Celebration of Life on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 1:00pm at Southview Alliance Church #20200 Walden Blvd SE, Calgary, Alberta. All who knew and loved her are welcome to gather, remember, and celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
