Darcy was born and raised in Calgary and married Pam in June 1979. Darcy worked in the construction industry and worked his way up to site supervisor on large commercial projects before semi retiring. In semi retirement he did renovation and excavation work. Darcy was a motorcycle enthusiast and spent many hours on his Harley. He also put on many miles in the Kananaskis with his mountain bike along with trail riding with Pam on his good horse Freckles. He loved country living on the family property in Priddis and kept busy with renovations, landscaping, fencing and keeping the place looking pristine. He was a fun and doting grandpa who cherished time spent with his grandkids. Darcy also loved his winter trips to Mexico and Arizona as well as a memorable trip to England and Scotland in 2019.
Besides his loving wife Pam, Darcy is survived by his daughter Sara (Aaron) Lapp-Smelski of Calgary; his son Jeffrey (Eva) Lapp of Priddis and his grandchildren; Dylan and Emma. Darcy is also survived by his brothers Darryl (Kathy) Lapp and Dale Lapp as well as his cousins, nephews, nieces and their families.
He will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Darcy’s Life will be held on March 16 at 1:00 p.m. at South Calgary Funeral Centre (12700 Macleod Trail South).
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that instead donations be made to Bragg Creek Trails.
