Doug was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan on October 9, 1959. He was the first of two sons for his parents, Audrey and Rodney. Doug was Glenn’s older brother, who would tie his skates for as young boys. Doug and his younger brother Glenn remained very close throughout their lifetime.
In 1972, their family moved to Calgary, Alberta, where Doug continued playing sports and eventually met his future wife, Janice, in 1977. They started a family together in Brentwood, where both of their children were raised. Doug spent his life working on many renovations and landscaping projects.
Doug is lovingly remembered by his two children, Janine and Travis, brother Glenn (Carol), niece Nicole and nephew Kyle. Doug will also be lovingly remembered by his late life partner, Brenda and their dog Maggie.
Doug is also survived by many friends he has met throughout his lifetime.
Doug is predeceased by his parents, Audrey and Rodney Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery, 3219 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with Glenn, Travis, and Janine officiating. Interment of the urn to follow.
