

Stuart is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Katherine, daughter Elizabeth (Vince), son Edward (Mas) and his grandchildren Jeffrey (Shari) and Lindsay (Alain). He is fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his grandson Steve, son-in-law Rob and parents Margaret and Bud.
Stuart was born and raised in Saint Stephen, NB. He joined the Bank of Montreal (BMO) after graduation in 1941. He took a leave from the bank (1943-1945) and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve and served as a Telegraphist on the West coast of Canada. He was most proud to have served his country in this way.
He held various management positions with BMO in the six Eastern provinces, retiring as Manager of Planning and Control, Real Estate Investments, Real Estate Division in 1987.
In retirement, he volunteered for many agencies as treasurer. He was a member of the Family Services of Peel and was given an honorary life membership. He was a member of Family Service Ontario for many years as an Accreditation Reviewer. He was a long-time member of PROBUS and PRISMS. Stuart was an active member of Christ Church United in Mississauga.
In 1996 he was awarded the Leadership Award from Family Service Canada and in 2001 the John H. Curran Award, O.A.C.C.S.
Throughout his life he and Katherine loved to dance and play bridge. In retirement they cruised the world thoroughly enjoying the people they met as well as the culture and landscape of each country they visited.
Stuart was passionate about scotch whiskey, particularly the peaty varieties and enjoyed ‘tastings’ with his PRISMS friends.
He and Katherine were regular patrons of Tim Hortons where they enjoyed coffee after their daily walk.
In addition to being a devout family man, he was very sociable and caring, taking an active interest in all those he met.
Stuart’s family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Colonel Belcher, Churchill Residence.
Cremation was entrusted to Foster’s Garden Chapel.
No formal services will be held at this time. Memorial donations may be made directly to Friends of the Colonel Belcher Society.
