Eileen graduated from high school in 1955 and worked for the Federal Government at the H.M.C.S. dockyards, Department of Supply and Services in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In order to work for the Federal Government it was necessary to pass a written test and she placed fourth in her group of approximately 30 people. It was an excellent opportunity for a new graduate. She had financial security and safety and after four years of service she moved to Victoria, British Columbia. Unfortunately, she was unable to transfer and was forced to resign. In beautiful Victoria she fell in love and married.
In 1962 she moved to Germany where her two sons were born. The family travelled around a great amount in France, Spain, Italy, England, Denmark, Austria and Holland. When she returned to Calgary, she returned to the work force and this is where she purchased their first home. Working for Calgary Power (TransAlta Utilities as it is called now) lifted her spirits and assisted in the mortgage payments. It was hard for her to leave her children all day.
Throughout Eileen’s adult life, she learned from her experiences, courses and on the job training. Her involvement with sports was minimal but she did play darts, bowling, curling, golf and skied downhill between taking care of the children with the usual childhood diseases.
In 1980 her oldest son graduated from high school and attended the University of Calgary, and four years later her youngest son, Curt attended and graduated from S.A.I.T. Eileen was so proud of her sons and they are good people.
Eileen worked at Eaton's Distribution Centre in a position of responsibility and worked through the ranks where management and co-workers were excellent. They leaned on and supported each other. The holidays to Hawaii, California, Florida and Texas were memorable and pleasant. The Florida citrus fruits are unmatchable when they are fresh.
In 1988 Eileen and her husband went their separate ways. She adjusted and moved on with her life. At that time her present goal was to be reasonably content and happy. On July 14, 2007 she married Cecil Rasmussen who is a wonderful person and made her happy.
