Elaine Lena Neil

We are deeply saddened to inform you of the peaceful passing of Elaine Lena Neil on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary Alberta. Elaine was born on June 1, 1944 in Clarendon, Jamaica. She spent the majority of her life in Calgary, Alberta, from 1970 to 2023.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Burtram Neil, and their five children: Paul Neil, Gary Neil, Rohan Neil, Jacqueline Neil, and Ken Neil, her adopted daughter Donna Neil and large extended family within Canada, United States, London and Jamaica. She also leaves behind cherished in-laws and grandchildren who meant the world to her.

Elaine was easily recognizable as she zoomed around town, often seen wearing her church hat and skirt, tackling her daily tasks with enthusiasm. She found joy in aquacise classes, shopping, attending church, and spending time with her family. Elaine loved capturing precious moments, taking pictures and videos, and watching her grandchildren dance.

To honour Elaine's remarkable life, a Celebration of Elaine's life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. It will serve as a beautiful opportunity for family and friends to come together, share memories, and pay tribute to a truly special individual.

Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.

Reception will be held at the Winston Heights Mountview Community Association, 520 27 Avenue NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 2A6 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
