

Frederik E. Vrielink passed on from this world to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, December 8, 2017. He was born in Olst, the Netherlands on February 28, 1931. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Johanna, and their children: Alice (João), Hank (Sherry), Dirk (Kalpana), and Betty (David). He is also survived by his loving grandchildren whom he adored: Veeran Vrielink, Alysson Vrielink, Ashley Vrielink, Matthew Vrielink, Julian Keller, Danielle Vrielink, Zachery Vrielink and Christian Keller.
In 1957 Fred and his new bride immigrated to Canada. They moved to Bowness, and he lived his remaining years in the family home there. Fred and his two brothers, Dick and Tony, founded Salland Construction which provided industrial construction services across Western Canada.
Serving God by volunteering at the Mustard Seed Ministries and through active membership in the Calgary Community Reformed Church was his passion. After retirement, this passion took him and his wife to mission work in North America, Central America, the Caribbean and Africa. He worked in partnership with the Reformed Church Mission services and through this work he touched the lives of many people who needed help rebuilding their lives from natural disasters and conflict.
A small gathering will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 6:30 pm. A private interment will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery. A Service Celebrating Fred’s Life will be held at Calgary Community Reformed Church, 1638 30 Ave. SW, on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
