Trudy had been experiencing many health challenges for the past five years, but the family was shocked when she was found deceased at home in Calgary on the 17 May 2025. It was determined that she had passed away on the evening of the 16. Trudy was born on the 2nd of September 1945 in Heinenoord, Netherlands and emigrated as a child with her parents and four siblings to Regina, Saskatchewan 23 December 1952. After high school she worked as a secretary at the Regina General Hospital. She met her husband Robert at the Texaco service station and married him in 1970. They enjoyed spending time with family at their acreage in Rowans Ravine passing the time trap shooting and going to the beach. A move to Calgary brought new employment, first at Westbourne and then at Peoples Jewelry. Trudy also enjoyed the Gun Shows and Horse Races. She and her best friend of 45 years, Carmen would dress up in western wear and go Stampeding. They usually got into some sort of shenanigans before the evening was over. From her comfy chair while knitting, Trudy would watch the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, Saskatchewan Rough Riders, horse and car races with a cigarette and coke. Winston, her beloved dog ate like royalty. Steak it is and Glosette Raisins. Winston had a love of skateboards. One fond memory is of Winston pulling the skateboard out from under her nephews after Trudy had told them NOT to ride Winston’s skateboard! Trudy jokingly said, “Screw all of you, I’m leaving everything to the SPCA”. So, in honour of Trudy, we encourage you to donate to the SPCA or your local animal shelters.
Trudy is survived by her siblings (Jennie) Jenneke Wilton, (Leo) Lodewyk (Linda) Lammers, Gerrie Hedley, (Bill) Willem (Lorna) Lammers, (Rose) Rosemary (Rick) Vegso and sister-in-law Helen Morrison. Her nephews Bruce and Corey Wilton, Terrence, Steven and Anthony Lammers, Allen and Bobby Hedley, Jason and Jeffrey Lammers, Benjamin and Mitchell Vegso and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Trudy was predeceased in 1987 by her husband Robert, parents Willem and Cornelia Lammers, brothers-in-law Gene Wilton and Earl Hedley. She was reunited in a private ceremony with her husband Robert on 27 May at Queen’s Park Cemetery in Calgary.
