On Saturday, August 26, 2017, a few weeks after her 95th birthday, Glennie left us to join Del, her beloved husband of 74 years, who predeceased her in 2011. Glennie was born in Swan River, MB in 1922, where she was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters, all of whom predeceased her. In 1943, she married Del, a pilot in the RCAF who, shortly thereafter departed for Europe. After the war, they lived briefly in Swan River and Nelson, BC and then Del rejoined the RCAF. Over the 18 years of Del's second career with the RCAF, they were stationed in Parent & Lac St. Denis, QC, Falconbridge, ON, Calgary, AB, France and Germany. Through all these moves, Glennie kept the family happy and organized. After the air force, they retired in Calgary. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Nelson-Jackson (Allan Jackson); her son Craig English (Lynn); three grandchildren, Scott (Laura), Alan and Michelle (Andy); as well as seven great-grandchildren, Francis, Julia, Addison, Aaron, Madelyn, Arthur and Lucas. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Wentworth Manor who cared for her and the other residents who were her friends. At Glennie’s request, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Brenda Strafford Foundation, 4628 Montgomery Blvd NW, Calgary, AB. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
