Gloria Barbara MacGregor

1931 - 2014

With her children by her side, Gloria MacGregor (nee Redmond) passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, AB on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Gloria was born in Windsor, ON on August 31, 1931 and grew up in Ottawa, ON. In her twenties she headed west, and in Calgary, met her husband John MacGregor and together they raised three children. Gloria will forever be remembered as a devoted friend with a zest for life and a wonderful sense of humour. She loved to make Halloween and Christmas extra special and had a passion for travel (Las Vegas). Gloria spent many happy hours playing cards and loved the challenge of solving puzzles. She was a dedicated Nana and took every opportunity to attend and support all of her grandchildren's activities. Gloria’s children feel blessed for her love and devotion and her grandchildren will fondly remember the wonderful times they had with their Nana at her Lake House and on many long road-trips. Gloria will be deeply missed by her loving children: Laura (Gary) and David (JoAnne); her grandchildren, Sean, Cale, Rianna and Taylor; and her best friend, Sandy Cormack. We know her good friends from Bridge, Bingo and traveling will miss her terribly. Gloria is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Johnson and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2001 and her much loved son, Scott, in 1986. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on Unit 53 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital who were so sweet and took such good care of Mom.

A Celebration of Gloria’s Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Suite 200-119 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 or The War Amps, Key Tag Service, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, ON M1V 5K9.
