Gordon Peters passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Kelowna. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Bev; son Jeff; daughter Caralyn (son-in-law Sandy); grandchildren Kyra, Mitchell, Ryan and Abigail; as well as sister Marilyn (husband John). Gord was born in Brandon, MB and lived across Western Canada and Southeast Asia while a practicing Chartered Accountant. To know him was to love him; he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, outdoorsman and athlete. Gord was adventurous guy he camped and Rv’d with his kids and grandkids, travelled with Bev, played organized basketball into his 40’s and hand built canoes, sailboats and many pieces of furniture. Gord’s zest for life was accompanied by a spirit of discovery, always seeking new challenges and experiences. He was well travelled, having worked and lived in Singapore and Vietnam, in addition to travelling to Bolivia, Colombia and Australia. In the late 1980s, Gord took his family on a three year adventure to Singapore, where they took advantage of all Southeast Asia had to offer, exploring Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia. In Singapore, he learned to windsurf and discovered a passion for tennis. In Vietnam, he revisited his knowledge of French, choosing to speak in French instead of English as it was more widely understood there. After retirement, when not pursuing his passion for travel and status as a “snowbird”, with Bev by his side, he could be found in the garage tinkering with his other passion a Porsche 914 he restored from the ground up and a more recent project, a Karmann Ghia convertible. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Alliance Church, 12345 40 St SE, Calgary, AB T2Z 4E6 on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
