She was born to Isaiah Bautista and Isabel Reyes on May 9, 1929. She lived a family orientated life in Hagonoy, Bulacan. Her life was turned upside down due to the invasion of the Japanese in 1941, witnessing many unspeakable atrocities. Through the hardships of life, they found hope of a brighter tomorrow, from that hope she met her husband, Pedro Trillana. Together they had four children and an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was sadly predeceased by Pedro at the age of twenty-six never remarrying and focusing on her family.
Lola moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba when she was in her early forties, from there she worked hard to raise her grandchildren and taught them the values of hard work, honesty, kindness and seeking educational attainment. She was a warrior and a force to be reckon with, surviving 5 different cancers, several other medical impediments down to her last couple of weeks of her life, she defied the norms and shown others what an inspirational fighter truly means. Despite the many struggles, you never heard her complain, instead there was always a reason for everything, a positive perspective, a lesson and a gift to be gained.
Lola will be greatly missed for her generosity, sarcasm, humor and ability to make those around her feel special. Her memory and legacy will be forever kept alive by those who lives she has touched, whether long or fleeting. She loved the holiday season and seeing those in her life happy and filled with laughter and joy.
Lola will be missed dearly by her family especially the two grandchildren she raised as her own Ethan, Anna, and Andrew (Anna’s husband) who were her primary caregivers and her grand-fur babies, Jessie Winston and Emi Mei. She will also be missed by the many compassionate and empathetic nurses she has met over the years and most recently those that helped her transition at the Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks.
