

Henryk Fraczek passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the age of 87 years. He was born in Tarnow, Poland on March 20, 1923 and was a decorated veteran of the Polish Airborne Third Parachute Battalion, medical company parachute #2792, combat wreath #1570 North Africa and Operation Market Garden. Henryk was a retired employee of General Motors (Oshawa plant) and was the proprietor of Lenscraft Photography of Whitby, Ontario for over 20 years. Henryk was compassionate to the less fortunate and a loyal friend to all he met.
Henryk is survived and sadly missed by his wife of 67 years Martha (Hynes) of Bowmanville; his daughters Antonina (Merle) Clarke of Tory Hill, Ontario, Elizabeth (Bruce) Campbell of Kelowna, British Columbia, Theresa (Donnie) of Lotus, Ontario, Julia (Larry Eyles) Jamieson of Lake Country, British Columbia; and son Christopher (Debbie) Fraczek of Calgary, Alberta. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Henryk was predeceased by his father Adolf, his mother Antonina, and his brother Marjian. Relatives and Friends were invited to a Prayer Service held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 2111 Uxbridge Drive NW, on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at a later date at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Whitby, ON.
