Jim, beloved husband of Charlotte and father of Chandra (Jeff) Smith, Chris (granddaughter Madison) and Joel, left us on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 while at home after a long battle with cancer at the age of 71 years. He was born in Wayne, AB on September 4, 1945 and moved to Calgary shortly after. Jim was very athletic and played baseball, football, curling, fastball with the Green Machine, and golf. He also loved to cook for the family and was a master barbequer. Jim joined the Calgary Police Force in 1967 and retired as Deputy Chief in 1998. There was never a day that Jim didn't want to go to work, as he loved being a policeman. In retirement, Jim spent winters in California and Arizona and summers at home in Calgary. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
