Irene Martin

Irene Martin passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, August 24, 2017, at the age of 99 years. She is survived by her son Michael (Wanda) Martin; daughter Peggy (Jim) McGinn; grandchildren Kristen (Dwayne), Heidi (David), and Matthew; as well as great-grandchildren Mikey, Monty, Penelope, Miles, and Paige. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bert, and her sisters Betty and Charlotte. Irene was a loving wife, mother, and worked with her husband in their family jewelry store. She also enjoyed many years of retirement, and was interested in reading, spirituality, and being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her friends. Irene will be missed by her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service to be held at Varsity Acres Presbyterian Church (4612 Varsity Dr NW) on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Peter Coutts presiding. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 - 4 St NW) at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Irene requested that memorial donations be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, www.alzheimercalgary.ca or the CNIB, www.cnib.ca.
