It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Iris LesCure on April 24, 2025. Iris was an adored wife and loving mother who brought joy to all who knew her… a true beauty in body and soul. She was a stroke survivor of 19 years and fought a constant battle of spinal pain with such a positive attitude and determination that she was admired by all.
Iris was born to Sidney and Ada Holding in Salford, England and emigrated to Calgary with her family in 1975. Without doubt, the true vocation in her life was nursing. After she cared for her mother through the rigorous journey of cancer, she embarked on a career to care for others.
Iris’ outlook on life made her loved by all. Her wit, humour, determination, energy and lust for life were all consuming, as was her devotion to her close-knit family and friends.
Iris leaves behind a loving husband, David; daughter Amanda, son-in-law Cliff, and grandson Bryton; as well as her son Simon. She will truly be missed and will be forever in our hearts.
Iris’ wish was for a cremation that would be a private affair. A public viewing will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel (on 4th Street across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Iris’ Life will be held at her community’s Club House (building 4000) in Sienna Park Green South West, on Saturday May 3, 2025, at 3:30 pm, to which family and friends are invited.
