Jim passed away with his wife by his side at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the age of 74 years. He was born in Elfross, SK but the family moved to New Westminster, BC when he was two years old. There he spent his early years and youth going to school and playing baseball. In the early 1960’s he moved to Calgary with his wife Olive and two young sons. Jim took a position with Firestone Tires but left so he could spend more time with his family. He then pursued a thirty-five year career at Simpson Sears (later Sears Canada) and was an exceptional large appliance salesman at the North Hill Sears store. In 1993 Jim married Dorothy, his loving partner, and together they successfully blended their family together. Jim’s twelve years of retirement were enjoyed by spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching sports on TV, volunteering, spending time at the Renfrew Pool and getting a good deal at the grocery store. We will miss him deeply and will always remember how he cared and helped anyone in need. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy; son Allan (Jenni); daughter-in-law Karen; stepdaughters Kathy (Kelly) and Anna-Marie. He is also survived by his sisters Doris (Vic), Hazel, Phyllis and Susan; brothers Albert (Margaret) and Ed (Linda); grandchildren Jonathan, Jason, Jenna, extended - Justin, Christopher, Jacob and Alecia. He was predeceased by his father James, mother Ethel, son Gary in 1993 and the mother of his children, Olive in 1996. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
