James Wesley Smith passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in Calgary following a brief illness. Jim was much loved by his many cousins and close friends who deeply mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents, mother Margaret Ethel and father George Wesley.
Jim was born February 4, 1939 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, where his father farmed and his mother taught school.
In his adult years, Jim graduated with honors from SAIT and went to work at Gulf Canada. In retirement, he worked as a security guard on large construction sites.
An avid fisherman, Jim enjoyed arranging outings to take family and friends to many of his favorite "fishing holes." Golfing, bowling, and cycling were other pastimes. He was passionate about exploring and photographing the prairies. Many enjoyed accompanying Jim on his day trips, stopping at local towns to sample the restaurants.
Jim was a good man who was generous, kind and always a loyal friend. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration Of Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
