January 5, 1947 — Colorado Springs, Colorado
April 24, 2015 — Calgary, Alberta
Janice Springer passed away peacefully at the Agapé Hospice in Calgary, Alberta, on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the age of 68 years. Janice is lovingly remembered by her husband Lonnie; son Aaron (Malgorzata); daughter Sarah (Marcus); grandchildren Samuel and Hanna; sister Carol and brother Jim. Janice is predeceased by her son Blake. Janice and Lonnie moved from Colorado to Alberta in 1969 and started to raise a family soon after. Janice was a very devoted loving mother who spent the children’s early years as a homemaker, but later returned to school and received a Certificate of Library Science from SAIT. She retired from her job as a library assistant at Henry Wise Wood High School in 2007. Janice always enjoyed camping and road trips with her family and spending time at the children’s hockey and ringette games. An avid quilter, Janice often displayed her creations at Heritage Park’s Annual Festival of Quilts. Her recent years were spent watching her family grow with the addition of two beloved grandchildren. Diagnosed with cancer in 2010, Janice fought bravely against the disease. She is at peace now with the Lord. Janice’s family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Foothills Medical Centre, and Agapé Hospice for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life will be held for Janice at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 710, 10123 – 99 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1.
