

Janusz was born in England on July 29, 1948 and was raised in Edmonton. He studied at the University of Alberta, Edmonton (Bachelor of Arts - 1966-1969), the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, Poland (1969-1970), the University of Alberta (1970-1971), Athabasca University (Bachelor of General Studies - 1986-1987). He pursued his passion for art and completed the Master of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Calgary in 1999.
Janusz was an accomplished artist with showings in many exhibitions both in Canada and Poland. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved nature, camping, hiking and skiing. Before settling on his most recent career, he spent time working on a fire look-out tower in northern Alberta. He then worked at the Calgary Drop-In Centre helping those in need. Jon shared his career-long love of art with students by teaching courses at the University of Calgary. Later, he moved to the Calgary Board of Education and finally became Team Leader and Program Director in Continuing Education Department at the University of Calgary.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth, his children Natalia and Julian, his mother Janina, his siblings, Ben Malinowski (Susan), Krystina Guspie (Brian); his nieces and nephews: Mark, Andrea, Celene, Greg, Michelle and Taya, as well as numerous relatives and friends in Poland and Canada. Janusz is predeceased by his father, Marian Malinowski.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 219 – 18 Avenue SW, Calgary on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with reception following.
