John DeRede

John DeRede passed away suddenly at home on September 24, at the age of 64 years. John will be sadly and terribly missed by his wife of 42 years, Margaret (Margie), his son Julien (Shannon) and daughter Chantelle (Ivan). John’s grandchildren, Arianna, Garret, Emma and Scottie, Arum, Sacha and Katrina will miss his wonderfully quiet presence in their lives. He has left them with many memories of special TV/Movie Time and they will always remember his wonderful chuckle.

John is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Pat (Phan), Greg, Jeff, Cynthia (Larry) and Shawna, nieces Danielle, Bo and Angie, and a special great nephew Tayvin. He was predeceased by his parents Livine and Julien in December, 2012.

John was born in Brussels, Belgium and came to Canada with his parents at the age of 3, and they settled in Red Deer, Alberta. He found his niche in the oil patch and spent many years in the seismic industry where he spent time overseas with his young family until residing in Calgary working for GSI, Sonix, Schlumberger and later contract work for Encana and Husky.

John was very devoted to his family and was happiest when everyone gathered at his home.

The family will be having a Private Celebration of John’s life at a later date.
