December 26, 1946 to June 2, 2014
John Simon passed away in Calgary, AB on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the age of 67 years. He was born in Nelson, BC but as a young adult, John moved to Calgary, where he lived the rest of his life.
Johnny was a unique person with a wild sense of humor which he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. He was a skilled tradesman and long-time member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada Local 496. John had a great mind for business ventures and with this talent he developed two successful companies, one in income tax evaluations and the other involved automobile sales and repairs. His hobbies included playing cards, horse races and VLT’s, as well as collecting coins. John loved to go sit by the Bow River with his family and friends to fish, drink coffee and smoke cigarettes. He is survived by his long-time partner and caregiver, Mabel; sister, Loretta, nephew, Todd and niece, Liz, and their children. John will be truly missed by them as well as his adopted family, the Rowe’s and many other friends. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Simon; his son, Sidney Rowe, brother, Mike and nephew Jim. We pray that your parents and son will meet you to take you safely to the other side. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Foothills Hospital for helping to care for Johnny during his final months.
A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
Until we meet again, Johnny.
