John (Jack) Vernon Summers passed away peacefully following his battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, in Calgary. Jack was the adored father of Jolie (Kris) Rattenbury and Johnny (Erin) Summers; Bumpa to Kael and Jayce.
Jack was born in Calgary to Violet Ruth and Vernon Francis Summers. He worked for the Canadian Wheat Board, Pedos Volkswagen, G.E. Schnier Carpet Wholesale, Citation Cabinets, and ended his career into retirement with Rocky Cross Construction.
He enjoyed many hobbies including flying lessons, welding, ice fishing, fishing, archery, tinkering and inventing. He had a passion for vehicles and was a competitive member of the Alberta Power Boat Racing Association, the Calgary Sports Car Club, and the Calgary Motorcycle Club. He spent many hours building and enjoying these hobbies and sharing them with his family and friends.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at Fosters Garden Chapel 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday May 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Motorcycle Toy Run, or the Canadian Liver Foundation in his name.
