

Born June 6, 1933 in Chatham, New Brunswick, Joe dedicated his life to serving and caring for others in numerous roles, beginning with the Royal Canadian Army in 1951 where he served as a medic until he was honourably discharged in 1956.
After his time in the army, Joe and Laura lived in Winnipeg. MB where they both worked at hospitals.
In 1977, Joe joined the community of Wynyard, Saskatchewan to work as the administrator for the Golden Acres Home. They moved to Regina for a time before eventually heading further west. Later on in life, Joe settled in Victoria, British Columbia with the love of his life, Laura Murphy (Sigfusson), working as the administrator of housekeeping at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Even in retirement, Joe gave back to his community as commissionaire at Butchart Gardens, as well as Commonwealth Ranes. Joe enjoyed the outdoors including cross-country skiing, camping and fishing.
Joe is predeceased by his mother; Genevieve Hersey, wife; Laura Murphy (Sigfusson), brothers-in-law; Steine, Harvey and Eugene Sigfusson, and his grandson; Damien Michael Joseph Murphy.
Joe will be forever loved and missed by his grandaughter, Tara Murphy; great-grandaughter, Mackenzie Murphy; the Sigfusson family including but not limited to Ross, Harold, Sandy and Joy; and the Smith family including Todd, Tammy, Josh and Kyle.
A private family service will be held in Wynyard, Saskatchewan, at which time he will join his wife eternally.
