Joyce Letitia Keizer, age 67, of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025.

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Joyce Letitia Keizer. Joyce passed away unexpectedly in Calgary, on Friday February 28, 2025, she was 67 years old.

Joyce was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was the eldest of seven siblings. She grew up in Nova Scotia and made Calgary her new home in the late 1970’s. She was soon followed by her extended family, her parents and siblings who all made Calgary the place to raise their families.

She was a strong and determined woman who worked hard to provide for her family. As a single parent to three small children she managed to work part- time and put herself through University. She graduated in 1987 from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Upon graduation she secured a position with the City of Calgary for 14 years. While working for the city she continued to educate herself and earned a CPP designation, becoming a certified Professional Purchaser. From 1997-1998 she was recognized for her leadership and service as Institute / District President of PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada.) She went on to work with SNC Lavalin and Spartan Controls in Senior Purchasing positions but she found the most joy in her work as a teacher. She taught Principles of Transportation, a required course for the Purchasing Diploma at the University of Calgary for 9 years as a second job.

Joyce found the perfect escape and relaxation as an avid reader and completing puzzles. She had an unwavering love for her large family which was the center of her life. She found great joy in spending time with them sharing laughter and creating lasting memories. She enjoyed travelling, going camping or loved just sitting out by the fire in her backyard with family and friends.

Her kindness, warmth and generosity touched the hearts of everyone she met and her spirit will live on in the lives of her loved ones. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by her family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Joyce Letitia Keizer is survived by her family including her sisters: Joanne, Elizabeth, Darlene, Debbie, Cherie and Kim, her brother: Duncan, their Dad Edward, her three children: Crystal, Clary, Nicole and seven grandchildren: Kanan, Jordyn, Lilyana, Sierra, Spencer, Aidan and Josh. She was predeceased by her mother Helen, father Herman, her sister Brenda and step brother Arthur.

A Celebration of life will be held at the South Calgary Funeral Centre at 12700 Macleod Trail South in Calgary, Alberta on Friday March 14 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Please feel free to wear Joyce’s favorite color Purple!
