

Kenneth Raeburn Palmer was born in Winnipeg, MB on April 18, 1935 and passed away suddenly in Calgary, AB on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Ken was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Rena and his sister Joyce. He will be dearly missed by his wife Corinne; sons Randy, Rick (Adelle), Jon and Jeff (Sarah); daughter Lola (Bill); grandchildren Alyssa, Adam, Erika, Casey, Josh, Chance and Mikaela; as well as great-granddaughter Malina. Ken grew up in Oyen, AB and attended SAIT in 1954 to become an aeronautical technologist. He moved to Toronto 1956, where he worked at Avro on the Avro-Arrow. With the cancellation of the Avro program, the family moved back to Calgary where he worked as a computer programmer with Shell Oil and Home Oil. He retired in 1996 and founded a company to sell his desktop computer system “Jiffy Plat”, which was a land map plat system for oil companies. Ken was very active and over the years enjoyed gliding at the Cowley and Black Diamond airstrips, running distance races, swimming, skiing and cycling. In 1997, Ken joined Bible Study Fellowship International and began his journey towards a stronger faith in Christ. He was baptized in 2001 at Centre Street Church, and he and Corinne became regular members, becoming involved in many activities and volunteering. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made directly to Samaritan's Purse (samaritanspurse.ca) or the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service for Ken will be held at Centre Street Church, 3900 - 2 Street NE, Calgary, AB on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
