Bob Pettifer passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 87 years. Bob was born in Campbellford, Ontario and was the youngest of the six children of Charles and Ethel Pettifer.
Bob followed two of his older brothers from Ontario to Alberta in the late 1950’s and met his wife Liz while they were both teaching in Gleichen, Alberta and married the love of his life in 1961.
Bob loved his profession as a Junior High Teacher and brought his passion for learning to his many students. His other passions included carpentry, wood working, travelling, gardening, and his all-time favourite…..spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.
He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his two sons and their families, Rob Pettifer (Janelle) and Sean Pettifer (Rosie) and six grandchildren, Raeanne (Wyatt), Cole, Kai, Jessalyn, Bodey and Julian. In 2008, Bob was predeceased by Liz.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob’s name will be gratefully accepted by the Parkinson’s Association of Alberta.
