Kenneth Roy Vipond was born the second child of Roy and Anita Vipond. As a small child, Ken lived in Peterborough and Petawawa, Ontario, as well as three years in Germany. Being so young and playing with the local children, Ken was fluent in German and able to interpret for our parents.
On January 1, 1965, one day after Ken's 7th birthday, the family moved to Calgary.
Ken was the wild one in our family. He decided one day he didn't want to go to school. In fact a week or two with no school would sure be fun. It wasn't fun when the police brought him home because he set the school yard on fire.
Ken loved fishing, his Border Collies, NASCAR races on T.V. every Sunday, tinkering and gardening. He enjoyed cooking and baking, from pies to roast beef. He had the talent for a delicious meal!
The family wishes to thank Derek and Allison Dufour and Jane LaSha Pool for all that they did for Ken. Their amazing friendship and support did not go unnoticed.
Ken is survived by his wife, Lise; brother, John; sister, Diane; and nephew, Russell (Aleks).
We will miss his laugh and jokes and be forever in our hearts. Never to be forgotten. Eternally grateful to call him our Ken.
A Memorial Reception will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
