Kent Edward Beegan, born May 11, 1955 passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents Ed and Lorna and by his brother Gary. He is survived by his sister Janice (Terry) Prokopy; brother Dan (Cameron); sister-in-law Judy Beegan; and nephews Chad Beegan (Rebecca), Monty Beegan (Melanie), Benjamin (Melissa) Prokopy, and Ross (Katrina) Prokopy. Of course, he is also survived by his great loves, his cat Stella, the Montreal Canadiens and the National Football League.
There have been few quite like Kent. He told stories in his characteristic drawl, punctuated with a furrowed nose and a sweeping hand gesture – always hysterical, especially when describing his younger hockey playing days as a goalie with an “underwhelming glove hand”. Kent’s fashion was his own. If the occasion called for dressing up, that meant that the ever present Habs jersey got tucked in. He loved that jersey as he loved the Montreal Canadiens. For more formal occasions, the required jacket would be worn over his favourite Hawaiian shirt. He loved the NFL and there was no speaking to Kent during the 17 weeks of the NFL season. He was recently even able to cross an item off his bucket list by attending a game in San Diego.
Kent was our brother and our uncle. He will be missed.
