Hoy was born in Canton, China on October13, 1933. He moved to Victoria, British Columbia when he was 21. He married Maureen Chow on October 17, 1959. Steven was born in 1960 and Karen in 1963. They moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1966 and along with three friends opened The Four Seasons Restaurant (later Called All Seasons). Charlene was born in 1977 and he enjoyed spending time with her when Steven and Karen moved away for school. Dad retired in 1988 and soon grandchildren were being spoiled, especially during week long visits. Mom and Dad moved to Calgary in 2012 to be closer to family, where he enjoyed exploring the city. Unfortunately ill health left him home bound and then transferred to Long Term Care in November 2020. He still recognized us when we visited until the very end.
We wish to thank the staff at 4th floor Wing Kei Crescent Heights for all the kindness and care they showed for Dad.
Hoy is survived by his wife Mao Ngan (Maureen), son Steven, daughters Karen (Leon Mah), and Charlene (Henry Kwan), and the joys of his life grandchildren Lindsay, Nelson, Janice and Taylor. Hoy is also survived by nephew Ying Young Chu, sister-in-law Fong Ying Chow, brothers-in-law Fred Fut Chiu Chow and Santa Yam Chiu Chow (Susanna) and their families. He is predeceased by his father Soon Kue Chu and mother Chiu Chu Wan.
