Larry Joseph Graas, much loved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many, passed away in hospital Friday, June 18, 2021. His ongoing struggle with cardiovascular disease ended at the much too early age of 63.
Born July 16, 1957 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Alex and May Graas he grew up in Marquis, Saskatchewan. He graduated in 1977 from SIAST with a diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology, moved to Calgary soon thereafter, and spent his working life in the Energy Industry. His lifetime consulting career took him from Canada to New Zealand and back again. He married Darlene in 2008. He was dedicated to his family and was a world class son, husband, brother and uncle.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his brother Don (Beth), sister Judy (George), and brother Allan. He will be forever missed by his nieces and nephews, the Sagert family, and his many lifelong friends. Larry was predeceased by his wife Darlene (2020), and parents Alex (2008) and May (2020), and sister in-law Bev (2005).
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday July 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Foster’s Garden Chapel 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary. Reception and a light lunch to follow at the Chapel. As per his wishes Larry will be interred alongside his wife Darlene, in Leduc Alberta.
