

The family of Laure Henriette Champagne (nee Bremaud) is sad to announce her passing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on February 8, 2011 at the age of 76 years. Laure is lovingly remembered by her daughter Lise, her son Pierre and his wife Yudi, her grandchildren Johnathan and Jacqueline, her great-grandchildren Zachary and Jayden as well as numerous family and friends. Laure is also survived by her sisters Adele Peloquin (Jacques), Angele, Elise Ayotte (Rheal), Corine Bouchard, and Reine Cormier and her brothers Marc (Ange-Aimee) and Fernand. Laure is pre-deceased by her parents Marcel Bremaud and Blanche Lapalisse, and her brothers Henri and Julien.
Laure grew up in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba and graduated from the St. Boniface School of Nursing in 1956. She settled in Ste. Anne, Manitoba as head nurse of the local hospital and raised her family. Laure’s sense of adventure gave her the courage to brave a new life and in 1982, she and her son Pierre moved to Bakersfield, California. Laure worked as a supervising nurse at the Kern County Sheriff Department, Lerdo facility, until she retired in 2000. She returned to Canada and lived in Calgary and has spent the last 11 years enjoying the company of her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Laure enjoyed reading, travelling and her life in California. Her friends and family were incredibly lucky to have known and been touched by this incredibly strong and loving woman. She will be missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South, (at Lake Fraser Gate) Calgary on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association of Alberta, PO Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, AB T6E 6K2. Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family in the Guest Book section found adjacent to this obituary.
