Lena Heikoop (Visser)

On July 27, 2023, the Lord took to Himself Lena Heikoop (Visser) at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Christiaan of 71 years. Cherished Mother of Coby Heikoop, Martin and Lori Heikoop, Chris and Sjaane Heikoop, and Susanna McEachern (Brian predeceased). Loving Grandmother to Michelle and Marvin Van Maanen, Chris Heikoop, Elena and Byron Slingerland, John and Caroline Heikoop, Martinus McEachern and April Van Driel, and Emma Walerius. 14 Great-Grandchildren: Timothy, Hope, Samantha, Noah, Jaelynn, Seth, Parker, Amalia, Bentley, Hudson, Grace, Marshall, Mona, and Joanna.

Mother continually guided her children and grandchildren in the Wondrous Ways of the Lord. She always spoke about how Good and Great our Lord is.

Born in Oud-Beijerland, the Netherlands on February 24, 1925. She married her husband Chris in Den Haag on January 29, 1947. She immigrated to Canada in November 1952 with her husband and three children. They moved to Calgary in 1954 where she lived until her passing. She was a wonderful, loving, and caring Mother and Grandmother and will truly be missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street N.W. (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend den Hollander officiating. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
