Lillian Edith Clara Capper

Born in Nelson, British Columbia, May 29, 1929; she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Annie (Elliott) Anderson. She resided in Nelson until the summer of 1963 when she made the long overseas journey to Australia. She lived in Australia for the next two years. In June 1965, she moved to Calgary and renewed an old Nelson friendship with Don Capper. Don and Lillian were married June 11, 1966.

Lillian liked to have fun and loved to plan events as she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family for many years, she was on the potluck planning committee for her Horizon Village complex and she continued that planning spirit right into her days at the Care Centre.

Lillian enjoyed her involvement in Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile where she formed many lasting friendships. Lillian loved to sing and if there was a choir to join she did. She spent many years singing with the St Mark’s Anglican Church Choir as well as the Sakkara Temple No.115 choir. Lillian loved to keep her hands busy and many of her friends and family are the recipients of the wonderful creations she made using wool and plastic canvas. In her later years she found the love of painting.

Lillian will be sadly missed by her children Barry Capper (Kathy), Brenda Thomson (Jamie), and Wayne Capper (Jacki); grandchildren Ashley Brockhurst, Travis Capper (Gemma), Jessica Hall (Wes Chung), Samantha Woodley (Fred), Danielle Hall, Jennifer Thomson (Krista Forand), Cameron Thomson (Amanda), Brandon Capper (Amanda), and Torilyn Capper; great grandchildren Nathan, Ava, Emma, Wesley, Isabella, Scarlett, Lyric, Elizabeth, and Braxton; nephew Brent Stauber (Noreen), and her extended family members. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Capper (1984); brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Olive Anderson and niece Minnie Marlene Anderson

The family would like to thank the staff at Mayfair Care Centre for lovingly taking care of “mama Lil” for the last seven years - she considered each of you her family too.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family desire, memorial donations may be made in Lillian’s memory to the Daughters of the Nile philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children®.
