Helen Keller
Lin passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior in the early evening on Thursday, December 9, 2021 in Calgary Alberta at the Wing Kei Care Center Crescent Height. After eight months in palliative care, God called her home.
Lin Lui (nee Wan) was born in China, the youngest of five children. She was raised in Hong Kong and started her own business before immigrating to Calgary, Alberta in the early 70's with her husband. Lin worked for Cara Airline Services until retirement.
Lin enjoyed gardening, especially her Chinese vegetable garden. Some of her grandchildren have fond memories of picking vegetables with her in her garden. She appreciated a good glass of wine or brandy with her meals, loved watching and listening to Chinese operas and TV shows like The Walton’s and The Carol Burnett Show. In her retirement years, she took up coloring and art and was a diligent student in her art classes. She even had a mini art showing along with her fellow senior residents. Her love of all things beautiful has passed on to her daughters and granddaughters. She was especially fond of beautiful jewelry, shoes and fancy scarves.
She will be remembered as a determined, strong, resilient, quick witted and sassy lady who loved and sacrificed much for her family. Her faith in God was demonstrated in all she did, unwavering and always hopeful despite challenges and hardships. Lin will be dearly missed.
Lin is survived by her three children: Meranda, Simon and Connie (Louie) (Alvin Tan); ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Tsu.
We want to thank the Wing Kei Care Center Crescent Heights for whom our mom had the blessing of residing there for over two years until her passing. A special thanks to all the staff on Fourth floor, especially to Nurses Randy and Claire, HCAs Melanie and Aida for their diligent, kind and compassionate care.
A memorial will be determined at a later date. Lin's interment will take place on Tuesday, December, 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Queen's Park Cemetery at 3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB T2M 3A5.
