It is with sadness we announce the passing of our dear Lois on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Lois Alice was born to Harold and Alice Woods in Chatham, Ontario on March 27, 1940. On February 4, 1960 she married Bill Taylor. She was mother to Denise her children Trish (Aaron) and Andrew; Sheelah (Ian) their children Noah (Tash), Nicole (Josh); Michael his son Brandon. She leaves behind to mourn her husband Bill of 63 years, her children, sister Joan, brother John (Neva), Tim (Wendy), Dave (Marion), Gwen, Betty (Murray), also many great grand nephews and nieces, with a number of close family friends throughout this country and the world.
In her early years Lois realized she needed to trust in Jesus Christ as her savior. Her fear of eternal darkness lead her to take Jesus at his word which was “I am the light of the world”, she didn’t need any more than that to say she was heaven bound.
Lois worked in bookkeeping for Engineered Homes for several years, then through employee benefits, she and Bill bought their present house in 1962. Lois became a home maker and raised the three of her own and became influential in the lives of many neighbor kids and young folks from parts of Canada and the world. Many of these regard her as Mom.
Lois was great support and teacher to her children. She demonstrated as a great role model as a parent in hospitality, in respecting older people in leadership and caring.
Lois was a wonderful wife and partner for 63 years. When she’d say “Yes, Fredrick dear” to Bill, he knew she was giving in reluctantly. But she didn’t have to that very often. He learned that silence conveyed many thoughts and feelings. They were good years.
From messages received, we believe Lois was a role model, teacher, encourager and welcomer to a number who have become part of our family.
We are going to miss wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend.
Thanks to all who have been prayerful, supporters for her and the family. May each of you know and feel God’s blessings.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Palliative Care team, AHS and CBI and the staff at Chinook Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Lois.
A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
A private interment was held at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
