Margaret "Marg" Gwendolyn Schellenberg

12 junio, 1950 – 3 junio, 2023
Obituario de Margaret "Marg" Gwendolyn Schellenberg
EN EL CUIDADO DE

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

It is with profound sadness that the family of Margaret "Marg" Schellenberg announce her peaceful passing on June 3rd, 2023, at the age of 72.

Marg will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, children Barry (Marina), Terri (Gerry), grandchildren Jessica (Nipawi), Shelby & Christina, great grandchildren Autumn & Theo, sister in laws Gwen, Jan & Linda as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents Andrew & Agnes Plested, siblings Edna, Ernie, Iris, Stanley & Glen, brothers-in-law Bill & Cliff.

Marg was born in Lacombe, Alberta and raised on a farm north of Lacombe. She was the 6th of 7 children. She graduated from Lacombe Composite High School. Following graduation Marg worked in several places, primarily in office settings including High River, Alberta where she met her husband Arthur (Art) Schellenberg.

Marg & Art relocated to Calgary and Marg became the office administrator for Woodridge Heating & Sheet Metal which was their privately owned company. The two of them traveled together several times, including a trip to Las Vegas where they were married in 1980.

Porcelain painting was one of Marg’s passions and she was exceptionally talented, winning several awards for her work. She was also extremely proud of her flower gardens and landscaping. Her home also reflects her design esthetic, as she turned everything she touched into works of art.

Perhaps Marg’s greatest attribute was her compassion and generosity for family, friends, and neighbors. She cared deeply for others and could always be counted on to help anyone in need, together with Art they would open their home for anyone undergoing medical issues, transporting them to various hospitals in Calgary for appointments etc. Marg cooked meals for neighbors and “adopted” several elderly people, thriving by taking care of them.

Marg also loved children and they in turn loved her. She had a youthful, playful personality and she was always game to try new things and indulge her kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. When you were in Marg’s presence you always felt important and cared for, she was an amazing host, and you never left her home empty handed.

We would be remiss in not acknowledging her hearty, boisterous laugh that she inherited from her mother and was shared by her siblings.

A Celebration of Life for Marg will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:00pm

In lieu of flowers, the family invite friends and family to make a donation to a charity of their choice in Marg's name.
