Mary Elizabeth Repka

She was born October 2, 1923 to Caroline Hencher (nee Cartwright, a missionary), and Arthur Hencher (a homesteader) in Smokey Lake Alberta. Mary was the youngest of four children and grew up on the family farm at Irondale. On March 11, 1944 she married William Repka. Mary and Bill lived most of their lives in Edmonton where Bill taught school and Mary kept house, raised two children, and enjoyed participating in activities at Richie United Church. She was a gifted crafts woman as well as a poet. In 2005 Mary moved nearer to her family to the Manor at Rocky Ridge in Calgary where she made many friends and found happiness in her final years.

Mary is survived by her children: Coral Oliver of Mississauga and Lorne Repka of Calgary; her grandchildren Joelle Rios, Nicholas Repka and David Repka; and two great grandchildren, Viola and William. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at The Manor at Rocky Ridge, 450 Rocky Vista Gardens NW, Calgary.

Mary will be interred at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Edmonton with her late husband Bill at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5.
