March 18, 1938 – January 15, 2026
With saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Sikorski.
Mary left us in the quiet, early hours of January 15, 2026, at the age of 87. While we are devastated by this loss, we find comfort knowing her battle with cancer has ended and she is now at peace. Her twin daughters remained by her side until the very end, holding her hands just as she had held theirs throughout her life.
Born in Alberta on March 18, 1938, Mary was the foundation of our family. As a single mother, she faced life’s many challenges with a quiet, unwavering strength that defined her character. She worked tirelessly in various government offices to provide for her children, eventually retiring at age 63. Her life was a testament to sacrifice and unconditional love.
Beyond her professional life, Mary’s heart belonged to her God and Creator, Jehovah.
Her deep appreciation for her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing her with comfort, purpose, and a foundation of love that she shared with everyone she met.
This deep spiritual appreciation gave her the grace to navigate life’s hardships and the wisdom to cherish its joys.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Cheryl Kutz. Her memory will be held in the aching hearts of those she leaves behind: her son, Clayton Babchuk; her twin daughters, Karen Lopes and Carol Canino; and her seven cherished grandchildren: Elaina and Kareena Kutz, Danial Babchuk, Sarah Gibson, Marco (MJ) Lopes, and Marco and Nicco Canino.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the physicians, nurses and attendants for their extraordinary compassion and quality of care.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, there will be no formal service.
Family and friends are warmly invited to an informal afternoon open house of refreshments to share memories of her life.
